British Australian artist Kati Kaia works exclusively with palette knives to create her signature expressionist oil paintings. Thick peaks of paint incorporate another dimension into her work, creating bold and textural colour fields.

Kati’s work is rooted in her infatuation with colour, texture and movement, the thick oil paint alluding to the feeling of touch like a pseudo sense. Her labour-intensive method in which she builds up and scrapes back layers of paint, capturing energies in paint, emotive expression and story telling. 

Her paintings are intuitive - exploring colour fields and their effects on the beholder, the power of colour and pouring expressive emotion through paint.
